Reports
Update from National ENA Board - Mitch Jewett
Web Seminars are growing in popularity. Online CEN practice exams are now available thru ena.org
Membership numbers exceed 34,000. The economy does not seem to be having an impact on membership numbers. There is an increase in requests from International nursing for education and additional courses. National ENA is pushing toward s a more Global presence, this will be reflected in the Mission Statement. Crowding, Boarding, Workplace Violence, Psych practice priorities, and Educational Products continue to be goals the National Organization is working on.
There is a group working on a One day TNCC re-cert course. Information is available in Course Bytes.
Presidents Report - Don Walker
Nurses Week is approaching, information and resources are available on our website.
President-Elect / Education report - Eric Christensen
New Business- I asked for any current membership chairs or those interested in serving on a committee to contact me. I want to ensure the continuance of committee activities through 2009.
Secretary/ Treasurer Report - Sharon
The Treasurers report was distributed for review. Discussion followed about the increase in expenses this year. A couple examples were cited: State Leaders attended Leadership Conference in Hawaii. Additional funds were budgeted for this item due to the location. With an increase in membership numbers, this will result in more members serving as Delegates at General Assembly- hence more expense to our organization. Another example, we have offered educational scholarships to CENA members over the last few years- while this has greatly improved our membership numbers, and more importantly, membership involvement- this has been expensive. The CENA Board approved setting a maximum of 2500.00 per quarter to be used for this benefit. We are planning to co-sponsor a CEN Review, featuring Jeff Solheim, with Memorial Health System in November. We hope to generate some revenue from this. Scholarships are always available on a first come first serve basis to eligible members. All the allotted scholarships for the upcoming CEN review are taken. National ENA Board of Directors approved a 1ooo.oo Grant to each State to promote TNCC and ENPC courses.
Sharon discussed opposition to utilizing funds from National ENA State Leaders Orientation to send Eric Christensen. Eric has attended multiple times in the past and Sharon expressed interest in “growing the future leaders of Colorado ENA”. Many members present nodded in agreement. Discussion was limited.
There was no further discussion in regards to the treasurers report.
ENPC Chair report - David Laumeyer

Old business
• SBIRT - Eric
SBIRT- We had a discussion on the benefits of SBIRT and the forward movement being made Nationally. National ENA is currently looking for SBIRT Champions for each state. Contact Pierre Desay 1-800-900-9659 for more information. SBIRT will be a reimbursable item for hospital in the future. Mention was made that even if your institution did not participate that this was easily an individual nursing decision.
• Wilderness Conferences - Eric
Wilderness medicine / winter conference- Currently looking to form a committee to plan the course for next year. I have had a few limited responses but as of now there has not been any forward movement.
New Business
• 2009 Colorado Election Results - Don
• General Assembly/Delegates - Eric & Don
Colorado ENA Delegates- We asked all delegates to review the delegate hand book prior to General Assembly. Colorado ENA members were asked to please review the Bylaw amendments on the National website and to contact a delegate with any questions or concerns. As delegates are charged with representing the membership, we are asking for input from the members in order to hear their concerns.
