REPORTS:

TREASURER:  Sharon Sperry Colorado State Council Secretary/Treasurer
Copies of the report were distributed and reviewed by members with opportunity for discussion

ENPC:  Penny Cole  State Pediatric Chair
The PALS recert is no longer offered with the ENPC course, information can be found in Coursebytes or thru the National ENA website.
There are currently15 provider courses scheduled until the end of this year
There are currently 2 ENPC-Instructor courses scheduled July and August
Course evaluations will now be kept by the State Chair

TNCC:  Pamela Bourg State Trauma Chair
6 TNCC Faculty from Colorado attended the recent Roll-out of the new TNCC course.
ALL instructors will have to be verified by one of these 6 Faculty members
There are currently 185 TNCC Instructors that will need to contact Pam for re-certification prior to teaching the new course.
Current Instructors should plan to re-certify between Oct 07 and May, 01, 2008
The current textbook (6th ed) and course may still be used until April 30, 2008
The new TNCC text book will be available August 1, 2007
The new course can be delivered in a one or two day format.  There will be a DVD to view, time for questions, random skills stations, one TNP station* and a written exam*. (* optional day 2)
There is a new chapter on Disaster Management
Rollout classes will be scheduled and instructors will be made aware
Current instructors must write at least an 80% on the exam
New instructors must write at least a 90% on the exam..

ENCARE:  Vicky Cassabaum unable to attend, Report by Eric Christensen
Discussed the ongoing challenge of having Nurses report their activity to Vicky.  The report forms are on the Colorado ENA website.
39 Emergency Departments participated in the Seat Belt Safety program.
There will be an ENCARE training course in Pueblo on August 13, 2007

MEMBERSHIP: No Current Chair, report by Eric Christensen
Membership Opportunities discussed (review Strategic Plan for details)
We have 643 Members in Colorado
The ED Liaison program is growing.  If you are interested in the contact person for your department, contact Eric.
We plan to send 14 delegates and 2 alternates to General Assembly in Salt Lake City this year.
Delegate Point sheets are due by midnight, July 14th.  See the website for information.
Requests for Educational Scholarships for the Fall semester are due September 1, 2007.
Call for Nominations due by July 14th.
All ballots due by 12pm on September 10th.
NOTE:  In order to qualify for any scholarship, delegate appointment or funds, your membership MUST be paid in full thru the date of the activity you are requesting the funds for.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS:  Shawn Ullrich Chair
A meeting is scheduled for July 17th to discuss the possibility of working with the local government and the Council for Nursing Federation Organization to promote upgrading the charges on assaults to Healthcare workers to a Felony. Shawn needs help with this project!

EDUCATION: Don Walker President Elect
Colorado will become a Compact State effective October 01, 2007
The Wilderness Weekend camping trip/ CE course is offered July 14&15. Details on website
There is interest in hosting a Winter Conference at a ski resort this winter, volunteers are needed to make this happen. 
Colorado ENA is hosting a Jeff Soldheim, a nationally known speaker, to present a 2 day CEN review in Denver on November 5th and 6th.  The fee is not yet determined.

NEW BUSINESS:
Nancy Bonalumi spoke to the increase in membership to 32,000, this is 4,ooo up since last year.
The CEN exam is being updated.  Watch for a new certification for Pediatric Emergency Nurse.
ENA has been working closely with ACEP a couple issues…Procedural sedation and Medication Reconciliation.
Nancy offered compliments on the generosity and support the Colorado ENA members receive from the Colorado State Council.
Nancy offered to be available to meet with members after the meeting.

There are proposed changes to the Bylaws.  These changes were discussed with the 34 members present at the meeting.  All the changes were supported unanimously (except for one abstain) by those in attendance.  The bylaw revisions will be posted on the website for member input.

If there are no written objections to the changes by July 21st, 2007, it will be assumed a majority of Colorado ENA members are in support of the proposed changes.
